New Leaders elected in Hunan
Province
Yang Zhengwu was elected chairman of the Standing Committee
of the People's Congress of Hunan Province at the first
session of the 10th Provincial People's Congress of Hunan on
Friday.

The election took place during the first session of the
10th provincial people's congress.
Eight vice-chairmen of the standing committee of provincial
people's congress were also elected on the same day. The eight
vice-chairmen including Wang Siliang, Hu Xiangdong, Zhou
Shichang, Pang Daomu, Guo Junxiu, Tang Zhixiang, Xie Youqing,
Yan Yongsheng.
Meanwhile, Zhang Yunchuan was elected governor of Hunan
Province, and seven others were elected as vice governors,
including Gan Lin, Xu Yunzhao, Yang Taibo, Zhou Baihua, Zheng
Maoqing, He Tongxin, Xu Xianping

Zhang Yunchuan, 55, a native of Dongyang city, in east
China's Zhejiang province, graduated from the Harbin Military
Engineering Institute in northeast China, Zhang served as
deputy governor of east China's Jiangxi province and then vice
chairman of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Regional Government
before he was posted to Hunan in 1999. He served in Hunan as
deputy secretary of the provincial committee of the Chinese
Communist Party, deputy governor and acting governor of Hunan
between 1999 and early 2002.
